Patty Martinez: June 2021 Instructor of the Month

So many warm, positive feelings come to mind when we think about Patty. She came to the House of Love as a client with her husband, Reuben and has since brought her children to classes, joined our team as a yoga teacher, and recently started teaching Pilates!

Patty's positive attitude and passion for trying new things is infectious. She has a heart of gold and can bring a smile to your face no matter what mood you're in.

We are so grateful that she is a part of our family. She brings a light yet grounded energy to our space and fills our hearts with joy.

Thank you for being you, Patty.

We love you!

Q: Why is movement an important part of your life?

A: I am passionate about movement as a means of expression, connection, balance, and overall well-being. I believe in the profound benefits of breath work, flow, engagement & disengagement, for every body. My personal practice has given me an alignment of body, breath, and mind that has changed me in a way that I am honored to share with others.

Q: What do you feel is your purpose as a yoga teacher?

A: As a teacher, I strive to create an environment where students are empowered to modify or move further freely and confidently as they discover their own personal journeys.

Above all, I am an avid student. I am always challenging myself, always learning, and integrating new insights into my teaching.

Q: What are some of your daily rituals?

A: One of my daily rituals is taking long walks with my dogs, connecting to nature; it is my moving meditation.

A: Quote: “In separateness lies the world’s greatest misery; in compassion lies the world’s true strength.” – Buddha

Q: Who/what inspires/motivates you?

A: I am inspired by my husband, Reuben. He points out possibilities that I may never even dare to dream of or expect. His belief in my ability to learn, adapt, and improve makes me feel worthy, accepted, and capable. His inspiration is powerful and works as a major driving force of my development and growth.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at Evolution Yoga?

A: The Evolution team brings a go-the-extra-mile attitude! The shared vision of LOVE, sense of camaraderie, cooperation, and empowerment is unparalleled and I’m grateful to be on staff!

Q: When you’re not teaching classes at Evolution Yoga, what are you doing?

A: When I’m not teaching at Evolution, I am taking classes at the studio! Outside of the studio, I love teaching young children how to read. I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I recently began scuba diving.
